Majok number one in Basketball Africa League for round 1 (by Hoops Agents)- March 8, 2022
The 34-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Fer.Beira (#6, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 77-71. US Monastir is placed at 3rd position in Basketball Africa League. But it's just the very beginning of the season and US Monastir won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Majok has many years of experience at US Monastir, through which he has constantly improved. The second best player in last round's games was young American Cleveland Thomas (192-G-1993, agency: Slash Sports) of league's leader REG. Thomas had a very good evening with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. It was enough for REG to edge AS Sale (0-1) 91-87. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Thomas is one of the most experienced players at REG and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Terrell Stoglin (185-G-1991) of AS Sale (#4). Stoglin got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. Despite Stoglin's great performance AS Sale lost 87-91 to #1 ranked REG. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. AS Sale can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 1 games. Too bad for Stoglin he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. The season just started for Stoglin as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Other top performing players last week: 4. Chris Crawford (193-G-1992) of SLAC - 30 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Dane Miller (203-PF-1990) of SLAC - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Abel Diop (1993) of DUC Dakar - 12 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Anthony Walker (206-F-1993) of REG - 21 points and 8 rebounds 8. Adonis Filer (195-G-1993) of REG - 14 points and 14 assists 9. Firas Lahyani (201-F-1991) of US Monastir - 15 points and 7 rebounds 10. Soufiane Kourdou (211-C-1985) of AS Sale - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
